Hollister police highlighted an achievement today from an official in the department.
Here’s the HPD statement:
Lt. Dan Winn received the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute Certificate today during a graduation ceremony in Garden Grove.
The Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SBSLI) is a program designed to stimulate personal growth, leadership, and ethical decision-making in California law enforcement front-line supervisors. Designed and implemented in 1988 through the efforts of California law enforcement professionals and top educators and trainers, the SBSLI is an intense program based on experiential learning techniques. Students are challenged to learn new ways to resolve issues through group and individual work.
The curriculum takes students through an analysis of management (planning, organizing, directing, etc.) and leadership (inspiring, challenging, developing, etc.) and how each discipline compliments the other. The course progresses from self-evaluation, to interpersonal evaluation, to organizational relationships.
The cost of the course is reimbursable through Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).
The course consists of eight 24 hours sessions conducted over several months. Lt. Winn was accepted into the course as a Sergeant and was recently promoted to Lieutenant at the Hollister Police Department. He was presented his certificate by El Monte Police Chief David Reynoso.
SBSLI is a great program to develop our supervisors and the end results has always been improved service to our community. Prior graduates of SBSLI at the Hollister Police Department include Chief David Westrick and Lt. Eric Olson.
The Hollister Police Department would like to congratulate Lt. Dan Winn with this prestigious accomplishment.
