Jesaiah Baer, a member of local band Smith Alley, performed on American Idol.

Hollister teenager Jesaiah Baer has advanced to the Hollywood round of “American Idol.”

Baer, 16, appeared on Wednesday’s show and sang “Settle Down” by Kimbra. All four judges agreed to pass her through to the next round.

Baer appeared in a captain’s hat as she entered the stage on the Long Beach-based Queen Mary during auditions for the Fox television show.

As she started her performance, Baer was actually interrupted by a smoke alarm, as Idol participants evacuated the stage before it was revealed the smoke came from a nearby restaurant.

Baer will join other contestants for Hollywood Week – which will first air next week – and try to advance to the top 40 in Las Vegas.

“I loved it within second of you starting,” said judge Keith Urban.

Nicki Minaj called it “defiant.”

“It was very shocking for me,” she said. “Kudos.”
