Hollister – The City of Hollister’s Web site has been hacked.

As early as Monday afternoon, searches on the site’s main page were redirected to a new location featuring an unidentified white drawing against a black background. Large letters declared, “HACKED! ertuqruLgazi was here!”

The problem continued on Tuesday. The Web site – www.hollister.ca.gov – provides information on the city’s departments and programs. It also allows locals to pay utility bills. None of the site’s basic functions appeared to be affected.

City Manager Clint Quilter noted that the city has its own internal network operating separately from the site. Neither Quilter nor a member of the city’s computer staff knew about the problem when phoned Tuesday. Quilter said the city will investigate it.
