Volunteers who cook or serve meals for the Homeless Coalition will meet Jan. 5 at 11 a.m.

The Homeless Coalition for San Benito County is holding a meeting for volunteers who are scheduled to cook or serve meals at the temporary winter shelter in 2013. The meeting will be Jan. 5, at 11 a.m., at the shelter on Southside Road, with each group asked to send a representative to the meeting.

Executive Director Cindy Parr said the shelter has been at capacity in recent weeks, as the weather turned rainy and dipped to below freezing this week.

Parr said the shelter is in need of comforters for the clients as they are at capacity. The shelter also accepts donations of warm clothing, toiletries and paper goods.

To donate or for more on the Jan. 5 meeting, call Parr at 801-9531.
