Fourth of July Kiddie Parade
The annual 4th of July Kiddie Parade will begin held on July 4th at 10 a.m. The parade will start at the commuter parking lot at the Veterans Memorial Park on Memorial Drive at 10 a.m. and proceed north on Memorial Drive to Maze Middle School where a short program will be held. “Kids” will receive flags prior to the parade as well as cookies and punch after the program at Maze Middle School.
Community fireworks display
The 2016 community fireworks display will be held at the Hollister Municipal Airport beginning at 9:30 p.m. Limited seating will be available on the airport ramp from the San Felipe Road entrance. Viewing will also be available from Aerostar Drive off of Flynn Road. The gate at the end of Aerostar will be unlocked for walk-in viewers only at 8 p.m. No food will be allowed in this area. Please bring blankets and/or chairs for viewing. These events are produced by the 4th of July Celebration Committee and the Hollister Downtown Association. Hollister Independence Rally
The annual Hollister Independence Rally is set for July 1-3 in downtown Hollister and will feature thousands of bikes lining the streets, entertainment acts and a variety of merchants selling biker goods and event merchandise. Some of the highlights include the Denver Choppers Bike Show on Friday and the Corbin Bike Show on Saturday. For more on the event, go tohollisterindependencerally.com.
Methodist Church Pancake Breakfasts
The charity event is set from 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday at the Methodist Church at Fifth and Monterey streets. Hollister United Methodist Church is hosting the 19th Annual “All You-Can-Eat” Pancake Breakfast that includes eggs, sausage, juice and coffee. Music is by Rhema Blues Band along with Scott Walters from the Reactors on the patio. The prices are $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Orders to go with free delivery too by calling (831) 637-4240.
Hollister Concerts
The Guerra Cellars-hosted Hollister Concerts are continuing throughout the summer. In July, the local venue will host tribute shows this month. On July 9, there will be an AC-DC tribute show. Arts Council Fundraiser Dinner
The San Benito County Arts Council will be commemorating their 10th Anniversary with an art-filled evening, Celebrate the Arts! from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, July 13th at Hacienda de Leal in San Juan Bautista. The public is invited to attend this celebratory event, featuring special guest Dana Gioia, the California State Poet Laureate and former Chairman of the National Endowment of the Arts. Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival
The festival takes place on the second weekend in August at San Benito County Historical Park, just south of Hollister. There is a tree-filled, shady campground for tent camping and a spacious meadow for RVs. The GOF is kid friendly, with a Kids on Stage program for budding bluegrass musicians and a wonderful volunteer-staffed crafts and activities corrall next to the audience area.
