Community members who would like to share their ideas about the most important qualities for the next superintendent of  Hollister School District can do so in a new online survey posted on the hesd.org website.

The district’s Board of Trustees hired Hazard Young Attea Associates in August to lead the search for the district’s new education leader, and an integral part of that process is gaining community input.

The short survey, which “is inviting parents and staff to participate in HYA’s Superintendent Survey,” was posted Sept. 20.

“Your school district is interested in your input as they seek to hire a new superintendent,” the survey states. “This survey is designed to gather your perceptions of the school district and the importance of various characteristics found in effective superintendents. The information will be used to determine the desired characteristics of the next superintendent.”

Retired administrator William Barr has been filling in as interim superintendent for the preK-8 district until a permanent superintendent is hired. Former superintendent Lisa Andrew unexpectedly resigned over the summer after serving two years, and Barr was selected July 6 to work as the interim supe on a 46-day contract.

Survey respondents are asked to indicate their role with the district, then rate the district overall as well as in certain areas. Following that set of questions, the survey taker is asked to choose top four characteristics they want in a superintendent. Finally, there is a box for any additional comments and suggestions for possible candidates for the position.
