A service to help identify children in the event they become missing – I.D. A Kid – will be held at the Family Golf Park in Hollister from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday
The national program is sponsored by Prudential Financial and will be conducted by Dana Rodrigues, a local Prudential agent.
Children will be able to provide a fingerprint and a piece of their hair for records, and Rodrigues said there may be pictures taken as well. Also, children and their families will receive an I.D. A Kid Program identification card.
Rodrigues said children should get the service, at certain age ranges, as often as every six months, to remain up-to-date with information in case it is needed by law enforcement.
“Their little fingers are not as little anymore,” she said.
Rodrigues previously oversaw a similar program at the Spotlight on Hollister Trade Show and Job Fair and she may hold the program again at the county fair.
“People were very excited about it,” she said about the booth at the trade show. “Maybe 2 percent of people didn’t pay attention.”
A free barbecue is also part of Saturday’s event.
The service and I.D. cards will be free, and state law does not allow sales of anything at the event.
The program is not restricted to children of a specific age group, including college-age students.
Family Golf Park is located at 4000 San Felipe Road. For more information, call Rodrigues at 630-9192.
