Editor,

This letter is addressed to the idiot that used a potato launcher to propel an orange through the windshield of one of our trucks as it traveled down Frazier Lake Road on Monday, Nov. 21. You may have thought you were being funny, but all you proved is that you have the brain of a gnat.

The orange shattered the windshield, showering the driver with glass. The truck was traveling at about 50 mph, loaded, towing a large agricultural tractor. Luckily, the driver had the presence of mind to bring the truck under control and to a stop even though glass was cutting his hands as he gripped the steering wheel. He almost lost control which would have certainly resulted in serious or even fatal injuries to innocent people on this heavily traveled country road.

This assault occurred about one mile north of the intersection of Frazier Lake Road and Shore road around 4pm. The perpetrators’ vehicle was a black pickup truck. Unfortunately we do not have a better description of the vehicle. As there was a lot of traffic on the road when this happened, we are hoping that someone witnessed the incident. We are offering a $750 reward to anyone who can provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible. You may call our office at 831-637-9221 and give your name and number which we will forward to the San Benito County Sheriff’s Department.
