The article about the garbage in the river was disturbing. But out here on the back roads between 101/129 to Union Road the garbage bags keep piling up. Almost every weekend I see bags dumped everywhere along these back roads. We often see cars, refrigerators, tires, TVs and other various furniture items. As my dad would say “it’s a damn shame.” It is totally unnecessary. Four times a year the John Smith Landfill will take most of these items off your hands for FREE. The next FREE weekend is coming up in June 24-25. Depending on the items you can dump 1 to 2 items per weekend. That’s up to eight bulky items a year. I don’t know about you but I don’t get rid of that many big bulky items a year. And there are other items you can properly dispose of as well (i.e. batteries, oil, household hazardous materials). But we will be on the look out for the black truck and we hope the the residents of Hollister will be too.
