Gang-related homicide
HOLLISTER
– Hollister police responded Friday, June 8 around 8:40 P.M. to
a report of gunshots in the area of Maple and Rustic Streets.
Hollister Police and the San Benito County Sheriff’s deputies both
responded to a call of two gunshot victims in a vehicle on the side
of the road at the intersection of Sa
n Felipe Road and Hwy. 156.
Three 16 year olds and a 26 year old, Pedro Serrano Vasquez, all
from Salinas, were in the vehicle. The vehicle had been struck
several times with bullets. Vazquez suffered gunshots to the hand
and foot, and one of the juveniles suffered shots to the back and
arm.
Vazquez was treated at Hazel Hawkins and later released. The
juvenile was air lifted to a Bay Area trauma center where he later
died of his wounds.
All of the victims in the car were reported to be associated
with a Sure
ño criminal street gang in Salinas. The five suspects, three
males and two females, are believed to be Norteño gang members.

SBHS principal departing

Hollister – San Benito High School Principal Debbie Padilla recently accepted a position as principal of Sobrato High School in Morgan Hill, according to a statement released Wednesday by SBHS Superintendent Stan Rose.

Padilla’s last day on the Hollister campus is June 30.

“She will be working closer to her home and children in her new position and Morgan Hill is the district from which she came to San Benito High School in 2004,” Rose said.
