The 28-year-old man accused of sexual misconduct with minors at and near the church grounds where his father is pastor has a preliminary examination in court scheduled for Friday afternoon, when a judge will determine if there is enough evidence for a trial.
Ruben J. Matuk, of Hollister, is accused of the acts with four female juveniles. Prosecutors alleged 14 felony and misdemeanor counts of lewd and lascivious acts, molesting, indecent exposure and sexual battery, according to records. Investigators allege the crimes occurred at the Apostolic Full Gospel Church of Christ, 1515 Santa Ana Road, and also at Matuk’s residence adjacent to the church address.
The preliminary examination is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 101 before Judge Steven Sanders at the San Benito County Courthouse, according to records.
Sanders has issued four protective orders – the most recent Dec. 24 – barring Matuk from contacting the suspected victims and requiring him to stay at least 100 yards away from them.
Matuk remains free from custody and was released from the San Benito County Jail on Nov. 23 after posting bail, which had been set at $100,000, according to court records.
