City Manager Bill Avera, dressed as Uncle Sam, and Ruth Erickson, dressed as Betsy Ross, take part in the Kiddie Parade.

An enthusiastic crowd of children and adults attended the annual July 4 Kiddie Parade in Hollister on July 4.
Leading the parade were Uncle Sam (City Manager Bill Avera) and Betsy Ross (Ruth Erickson) followed by Susan Silviera’s summer band and music camp with 30 musicians ranging in age from 10 to 13.
Following the band were parade participants dressed in patriotic colors with wagons, trikes, bikes, scooters and skateboards decorated in red, white and blue. All children were given American flags to wave.
The parade route was lined with families waving flags and taking photos of the happy procession. The parade ended at Marguerite Maze Middle School’s parking lot with short speeches, the Pledge of Allegiance, music, photos, punch and cookies.
