What planet are you on, calling for more taxes? Do you want to kill off more small businesses? Take money being wasted by our government on boondoggles, and use it to pay for basics like public safety. We’d get the public safety we deserve, and fewer small business failures that you seem hell-bent on creating. Why won’t you publish COG’s Transit System’s “Top Performance Indicators?” Will you tell voters about the true price tag on the $1 billion 3-in-1 highway? Since we get only 11 cents back from Sacramento for each dollar that we send to them, the actual cost to San Benito County taxpayers is $9,090,090,090, or about three times the assessed valuation of all the real and personal property, including cattle, in SBC. In order to get the $1 billion, Supervisor Botelho would need to make his apple trees grow dollar bills. Get 1,000,000 per year of those bills, and in only 1,000 years we would have the $1 billion for the 3-in-1. Alternatively, we could have an intermodal solution for zero tax dollars if we followed the funding formula in the white paper that I wrote for the Rail Advisory Committee.
