Caltrans released the following statement on roadwork causing planned closures today through Thursday on Highway 156.
According to the announcement:
Caltrans Headquarters Surveys and Maintenance crews will be doing core drilling and traffic control along a five-mile section of eastbound and westbound Highway 156 from Alameda Street to Union/4th Street between Hollister and San Juan Bautista on Tuesday, Feb. 2 for three days, Caltrans officials have announced.
One-way reversing traffic control with flaggers will be in effect. Work hours for Tuesday, Feb. 2 through Thursday, Feb. 4 are from 9 am to 3 pm. Motorists can expect delays of 20-25 minutes and can use an alternate route or take Hwy. 101 north to Hwy. 25. Roadwork is scheduled to be complete by Thursday, Feb. 4, weather permitting.
An electronic message sign will be posted alerting motorists of this roadwork, which is being done by our Hollister maintenance along with headquarters survey crews. The CHP will also be present to assist with traffic control. It is necessary for the preservation of the road and safety of the travelers.
Caltrans reminds motorists to move over slow down when driving through highway work zones.
