I liked your article on mountain lions. We need to get them back
under the Department of Fish and Game control. The public should
leave the experts set the rules. There will be many more people
hurt before this happens.

As I remember, the Fish and Game put a moratorium on hunting mountain lions in 1970 so they have not been hunted since then. In 1990, they proposed to open hunting because the population had increased to the point that they needed to be controlled. They proposed to sell 190 tags, which maybe only 10 to 20 percent may have been killed by hunters, but it would have helped create a fear of man back into the species. In 1990, 256 mountain lions were killed with depredation permits for killing and stalking livestock. The general public doesn’t know this. I am sure that this many lions have been killed every year since. I have grandsons, 10 and 12 years old, living in the mountains that lost goats to, we believe a lion. They used to feed their animals by themselves until that happened. It could have been one of them instead of their goat! More articles like this need to be published.
