It’s hard times out there and people struggle every day. I really can’t believe that between the city and the county, they cannot fund the civil grand jury.
I want to say thank you to Abraham Prado for the report on the traffic corridor study. Is this going to get done? Just like the hotel, things have been planned for years. But still nothing is done.
Another thing, I would like to thank Mike Chambless for doing the parks for the kids in our community. It does make a difference. I did get a lot of feedback in my emails.
One major concern and my concept was fixing the roads. Maybe the oversight committee can spare a few bucks. They said they can spend money, last year on Oct. 6, that they can spend the money for the roads, and they have not done that yet. Especially the west side is my major concern. I would like to say again, if you let the citizens be a part of the community, maybe have a citizens committee. And have them get involved and I would love to join.
There is freedom of speech and people have their own opinion. For example, Sunnyslope Road sidewalks are hard to walk. I have tried to walk down there and I twisted my ankle, but it’s a lot of dirt and rocks and no sidewalks, so it’s hard now, I try to take other routes. I go for walks to work out; I try to eat right and work out every day. If you set your mind to it you can do it. If anyone would like to email me please do at ke*******@ym***.com.
I am willing to help anyone in my community. Our kids are a big concern for me as well, and keeping them active and on the right path. Public safety is also a big issue. I never see DUI checkpoints and they talked about red-zoning the schools, but the city has to do their part. On one of the meetings I watched, how they were talking about taking down a stop sign by a school, which will cause a big safety hazard. It’s called traffic control. We could save a lot of money on consultants; you can say all you want. But, actions and proof of doing it, getting it done is what the people want to see.
What we do need is having the people involved to rebuild our city and work together as a team. Like I said before, they choose who they want. But at least I know I am for the people and not for the money. I am who I am. At least the District 4 people lost twice and I lost twice so I feel fine. And at least I used my own money and did not take any campaign contributions from anyone and I feel good about that.
When I watched the Jan.17 meeting, the crime rate was at 94%. We have to do something about that. I have sorrow for the family that lost the Kmart employee that I knew for years. Why and how could that person get away with it, and we could not catch that person. You can give rewards for employees of every department, but is it effective?  We lost a life and that’s my major concern.
