I would like the residents in our community to support a Yes vote on Measure E. Like many Hollister residence I am a commuter and I came to this town because I found a community that fit what I needed and wanted in a hometown.
About a year ago my truck was burglarized in my driveway. I was upset and I felt violated. When I checked into it, I found out that we only had three police officers working at any given time in Hollister. I had to do something to help, so I started the Hollister Neighborhood Watch page on Facebook because I thought it would be a way for the community to share information and help the police officers help us at the same time. I think its accomplished that so far.
Now I would like to expand that help. Measure T, the 1% sales and use tax is expiring this coming year. Measure T has helped us maintain the level of police officers and firefighters for the last five years. It hasn’t always been perfect, but it really has kept the ebb of crime in check away from our city. We need to help our officers again and ensure our safety for a little while longer. A Yes vote on Measure E extends the 1% sales and use tax for another five years. There will be an oversight committee that will watch how the money is spent, to ensure that it is spent on making Hollister a better community.
A Yes vote on Measure E is for a better tomorrow for Hollister. Please join me in supporting our police officers, fire fighters and other vital services that make Hollister such a great place to live.
