Freitas would lead the right way

Dear Editor,

I am writing to encourage the voters of District 2 to vote for Anthony Freitas for supervisor. I believe Mr. Freitas is the candidate who can best lead out district in the way it should be led. He has the understanding and the respect to work within and across county lines. Mr. Freitas has the integrity, strength, and the capability to serve our county well. He is honest and truthful and won’t be controlled by friends or special interests. He will make wise decisions based on what is best for our County. He has a passion for our county and the people in it and will work to improve the quality of our lives in San Benito County.

He supports the improving of the Highway 156 to make it a safer road for all residents of Hollister, San Juan Bautista and Aromas. In the endorsement from the Weekend Pinnacle they said “Freitas understands that now is the time to negotiate with CalTrans for a highway that will work for us all, while at the same time preserve as much of our precious agriculture land as possible.” Mr. Freitas would encourage CalTrans to save the two lanes we presently have and add two more lanes to it, improving Highway 156 is of vital importance to our community.

Mr. Freitas will be accessible to all voters, including having office hours in all three cities. He supports a strong economic development program to bring in much needed funding into the County. He has a great vision for our county. Please vote for Anthony Freitas on June 3.

Freitas is tough on crime

Dear Editor,

Anthony Freitas is a candidate for supervisor in District 2. Mr. Freitas would be a tough on crime. He has been endorsed by the San Benito County Deputy Sheriff’s Association of over 50,000 members statewide. Recently in the San Juan Valley where I am a resident we have had a rash of daytime robberies. People who were out working came home to find their possessions stolen and their homes ransacked. We need a supervisor who has the respect and confidence of our local law enforcement agencies and the ability to work with them to help make our communities safer.

Mr. Freitas supports forming a Gang Task Force to help alleviate gang problems in our community. Gangs are a growing problem in our local cities and we need to do all we can to encourage our children to avoid the trap of gangs.

Anthony Freitas will be a strong, honest leader to lead our county.

I encourage you to vote for Anthony Freitas on June 3.

Bob Baptiste, San Juan Bautista

Surgeon for Freitas

Dear Editor,

As a local surgeon here in San Benito County it is my privilege to live in the town of San Juan Bautista. Unfortunately, on a multitude of occasions I have been caught in late afternoon densely congested traffic on Highway 156 eastbound from the Alameda crossroad in San Juan Bautista to the Union Road exit. Many times I have required STAT emergency traveling to the hospital for life-threatening medical needs. Getting caught in this thick traffic I am only fearful that some day it will medically cost a life secondary to my tardy arrival to either the emergency room or operating room.

I can only hope that with much support Anthony Freitas will be successfully elected as supervisor for District II. His support and plans to convert the aforementioned road into a four lane highway are of the highest first order importance for the safety of San Benito County residents. I hereby endorse Anthony Freitas with the highest of recommendations and without reservation.

Time for change in District 5

Dear Editor,

The time has come for a change. It is up to voters in supervisorial districts 1, 2 and 5 to make the necessary changes.

District 5 voters you must wake up. You have a golden opportunity to put a quality candidate on the board who will be beholden to you.

Marian Cruz is that person.

Unlike the current District 5 supervisor who is beholden to developers, Marian is beholden to you.

Marian Cruz did not accept endorsements, special interest donations or newspaper endorsements. She focused her campaign on transparency and equality in county government.

If elected, Marian has pledged to donate half of her supervisor salary to local nonprofits such as Community Pantry to enable them to continue to serve the less fortunate. How many of you use the Pantry weekly or occasionally? This is a unselfish gesture on her part.

Has anybody noticed the steady stream of developer dollars flowing into the De La Cruz campaign? Who do you think he will support and how do you think he will be required to vote on devilment issues? Don’t sell your vote and power to a person who shows no respect for our county or our land.

Proper government depends upon the free-will vote of informed voters, not on the vote of the uninformed, disinterested, and bullied. We know what we’ve had the past four years and we can do better with new people.

Trust, like money, can sometimes be spent on the wrong person.

Just for the record, I have no dog in this fight, only the love for the county I was born and raised in.

District 1 voters take a good look at Mr. Brians and District 2 take a look at Mr. Freitas. I don’t see any special interest groups contributing to their camps which means they’re beholden to you the taxpayer.
