Country out of sync with citizens
This is an open letter to all of those peace-loving folks who
respond to our street corner messages of peace and hope. Since we
started our peace vigils in 2002 we have never seen more folks
responding to us with
”
V
”
signs, thumbs up, smiles, waves and even
”
Thank You
”
many times. We see the real backbone of our country layered with
folks who want to help others. The puzzle to me is why then do we
seem to be such a vicious people? Why do we fight two wars? The
only answer seems to be
– our country is out of sync with its own people.
What we, as peace-loving people, don’t understand is why our
country spends hundreds of billions of dollars on wars, death and
destruction when that amount of money could be spent on life,
health care, jobs, housing and education here at home. The really
sad part is that the wars weaken our country and make us less
safe.
Our cause is the people’s cause. We will be back more convinced
than ever. Stay with us.
