Out-of-state polling firms have it all wrong
If I get one more telephone call from an out-of-state
telemarketer implying that Supervisor Pat Loe is not doing her job,
I am going to scream. This is nothing but an attempt to sway voters
by using loaded language under the guise of a poll. Again more
desperate lies from her opponent, whom astute political watchers
know wants to use this election as a stepping stone to other
offices.
Everyone in this county knows that Supervisor Pat Loe has and
continues to do an exemplary job. All you need to do is see that
her supporters include people who have disagreed philosophically
with her in the past. Supervisor Pat Loe has continued the work
that I began. She spends frugally and has seen county reserves grow
to $20 million despite this horrible economy.
When she’s not doing the work of the county, she is volunteering
to help others volunteering her time at Hazel Hawkins Hospital and
Relay for Life.
In this day and age, there aren’t many people in politics we can
trust anymore. Pat Loe is someone everyone in this county trusts,
and she has the experience to get the job done!
Don’t be fooled by fancy signs, mailers and out-of-state
telemarketers.
Join me in re-electing Pat Loe, District 3 supervisor.

Candidates share the same vision

Did it strike anyone else as odd that the three District 4 supervisor candidates all had the same vision for the county – Solargen and open Clear Creek.

What happened to leaders with a vision?

Here are a couple.

Rather than have Solargen install a solar farm that employs fewer than 20 people, go to Sunpower with a proactive proposal for building their assembly expansion plant in San Benito County.

Or rather than open Clear Creek whose user base adds few dollars to the county’s coffers why not seek federal dollars for increasing Pinnacles with lodging facilities ala Yosemite?

Both ideas would employ more local people.

I’m sure there are more, and better, ideas out there.

Let’s create a collective vision that can move the county.

Support for District 4 candidate

As you probably know, Jerry Muenzer is running for District 4 supervisor. I am sending you this e-mail because I am voting for Jerry Muenzer and I would like to ask you to consider doing the same. Let me give you a few reasons why:

I have known Jerry Muenzer all of my life, having lived down the block from his family from the time I was 10 years old until the day I married. His store, and his father’s before him, Muenzer’s Cyclery, was the center of our family’s life for many years. Mom and Dad bought my brother’s and my first bikes there, all of my brother’s Little League uniforms, and our extended family continues to this day to purchase athletic, hunting and fishing equipment from Jerry’s family-run business. I can’t forget that Muenzer’s has also been the source for all of our locksmithing needs. He has rescued me many times!

By comparison, although on a smaller scale, Jerry’s store is not unlike the county. Jerry has fiscal responsibility. He balances his budget. He is responsible to the people, his customers. He operates within departments; hunting, athletic, locksmithing, etc. He has employees. He envisions and determines growth potential. He creates jobs. He is available to the people. Jerry Muenzer has been successful.

What this symbolizes to me and my family is that Jerry Muenzer can be a supervisor for the people, addressing the needs of the community, just like he has done in his store all of these years and continues to do. Meeting the numerous needs of the populace of San Benito County is why Muenzer’s store is still flourishing. He listens to the people.

Jerry Muenzer is a quiet and unassuming man. He chooses his words carefully and that is why I believe and trust that he has done his homework on the issues and truly has only the best interests for San Benito County and its residents at heart.

As a businessman, Jerry is definitely for economic growth, the creation of jobs, and managed development in San Benito County. Jerry knows that the successful operation of the county depends on it.

To say it simply, “Jerry Muenzer epitomizes San Benito County; he is a successful and trusted businessman, a community leader, and a devoted family man. I support Jerry Muenzer for Supervisor for District 4 for San Benito County.

Sheriff’s candidates should share views on bikers

Thank you for the informative interviews with all four men running for Sheriff here in San Benito County. There was one topic that not one gentlemen even mentioned. Hollister is known world wide as the Birthplace of the American Biker.

We used to hold a world famous motorcycle rally. As a former board member of the HMRC, I for one would like to know the feelings of each candidate on this topic. Incredibly high “security” costs were sited as one of the main reasons the city could no longer sanction our rally. Hollister will always be a destination for bikers and I for one would like to see them greeted warmly once again.

Who among these men is biker rally friendly? What are their opinions on safety and security if and when we local bikers were ever able to try and bring our rally back? Which man would be friend or foe if he became the Sheriff of the Birthplace of the American Biker? Can the Pinnacle provide the platform for the answer to these questions?

Get student drivers professional training

The following is in response to Adam Breen’s article entitled “Instructing a teen behind the wheel can drive a parent crazy.”

I would recommend that any parent have their student driver receive “behind the wheel” training from a professional driving instructor.

Not only will it be less stressful on the parent, but the student will be properly instructed in all phases of operating a motor vehicle, rules of the road and, most important, safe driving practices.

Further, the DMV requires that student drivers receive their first two hours of driving with a California Licensced Driving Instructor and the driving permit be validated by the instructor’s signature.
