Whichever biker event is better will draw more people

Unfortunately, due to the mismanagement of funds of the past Hollister rally events, the Fourth of July event is no longer a biker event. It’s all about the bottom dollar. Yes, since Horsepower Promotions has taken over, finances have taken a turn.
I personally know Steve Lopez and, yes, his motive is the same as Horsepower’s and the City of Hollister. The only advantage Hollister will have is that the Los Banos event will cost each biker $10, whereas Hollister is free. Once word gets out of the admission fee, that will deter people from riding to Los Banos.
Traditionally, there will be festivities going on in the neighboring cities (Harley stores) which will cause bikers to be constantly moving, but I think that the event that is more biker appealing will attract more people.

Don’t be manipulated by Free Lance’s smearing of Cruz

Bob Cruz is one of the most honest and dedicated people I have ever met. I was surprised and appalled at the Free Lance coverage of the recent allegations against Mr. Cruz. First, we live in a society where a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Secondly, the accusations against Mr. Cruz are (at best) one person’s word against another’s. Thirdly, the Free Lance appears to be prodding the district attorney and sheriff to actively engage in a witch-hunt-style, evidence-gathering campaign against Mr. Cruz.
I do not believe that there is any evidence of any criminal activity against Bob Cruz. The timing of this testimony and these articles is extremely suspicious, especially now that Marian Cruz (Bob Cruz’s wife) is a candidate for county supervisor. When Bob Cruz was a county supervisor, he earned a reputation for his honesty and integrity.  He would not accept personal contributions for his campaign.
I hope that the Free Lance discontinues trying to make news and just reports the news, after it happens. I also hope that the voters are not manipulated by the Free Lance’s decidedly anti-Bob Cruz, and by extension anti-Marian Cruz, smear campaign.
