Lorna Saiki

Local artist Lorna Saiki was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, attended the University of Hawaii and later became a Pan American stewardess. She traveled the world many times over with intercontinental flights throughout her five years as a stewardess. When she settled in Northern California, she worked in the health care industry until retirement.
In 2005, she joined the Gallery Morgan Hill and started painting landscapes in oil as a self taught artist. In 2006, she took first place for her painting of Anderson Lake in the Fall Open Juried Show sponsored by Gallery Morgan Hill.
In 2011, she competed in the Valle del Sur Open Juried Show and won first place for her painting of Solis Winery in the Fall and in 2012 won first place in oil for her painting of Tahoe River. She has received other ribbons from the Santa Clara County State Fair, Valle del Sur Art Guild and the City of Gilroy.
Saiki joined the Valley Art Gallery in Salinas in 2009 and showed her work for a year and a half. Her work has also been shown at Fast Frame in Morgan Hill, Solis Winery, Morgan Hill Community Center and the Centennial Recreation Center in Morgan Hill.
Her focus has been California landscapes and local views in oil media, but she has also created abstract work in watercolor and mixed media.
