– The Plaza History Association and San Juan Bautista State
Historic Park are asking for volunteers who’d like to travel back
in time. Docents are needed to dress in period clothing and give
demonstrations during Living History Saturdays or to assist with
school children on weekday mornings.
A training session is scheduled Saturday, Feb. 24 from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m. at the Plaza Hotel in San Juan. For more information,

HPD changes policies

HOLLISTER – After a Feb. 2 article in the Pinnacle about the increase in burglaries in Hollister, the Hollister Police Department announced that it will continue to respond to residential and commercial burglaries as it has in the past. Officers will not respond to vehicle burglaries unless the burglary is still in progress.

Baler Hall of Fame nominees

HOLLISTER – The Baler Education Foundation is seeking nominations for the Baler Hall of Fame. Nominees can include graduates, coaches, teachers, staff members or volunteers who had a significant impact at the high school during their time on campus. Nomination forms can be requested by calling Michael Query at 637-5504 or by writing to: Baler Education Foundation, P.O. Box 328, Hollister, 95024.

Nomination forms are due March 15 and a ceremony to induct Hall of Fame members will be in May.

San Benito Riverbed Project

HOLLISTER – Volunteers are invited to work with San Benito High School students Sat. March 3 on a riverbed clean up from 9 a.m. to noon at the Nash Road Crossing of the San Benito River. Students, teachers and others are invited to pick up a plastic bag and some gloves at the event to clean trash out of the river bed in Hollister. Volunteers should bring water and sun protection. Other items needed include wheelbarrows and heavy-duty tow ropes. Volunteers must sign a waiver of liability. For more information, e-mail [email protected].

Farm Day volunteers

HOLLISTER – The San Benito County Farm Bureau is looking for volunteers to help with San Benito County Ag in the Classroom “Farm Day.” The event will be at Bolado Park, Tuesday, March 20 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Third graders from all over the county will come to the park to learn about agriculture and nutrition. Volunteer class guides are needed to work with the 1,000 children who are expected at the event. For more information, contact Nancy Griffin at 637-7643.
