A Hollister man in his mid-40s was stabbed multiple times in a fight at Whiskey Creek Saloon early this morning, according to a Hollister police spokesman.

Police responded to a reported fight at about 12:30 a.m., said Sgt. David Westrick, the department spokesman. There were encounters involving “several” people both outside and inside the bar at 201 Fifth St., leading to the stabbing in the back of Whiskey Creek near the pool tables, he said.

Officers did not locate anyone involved on the scene, but did later get dispatched to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital because the stabbing victim had gone there for treatment, Westrick said. The man was flown to another hospital for more attention, he said, though his health status is unclear. It also is unclear where he was stabbed.

Police are continuing the investigation to get more details, he said.
