An 80-year-old Los Banos woman died in a solo-vehicle crash Tuesday evening on Highway 25.

The accident was reported at 6:03 p.m. on the highway north of Hudner Lane, said California Highway Patrol spokeswoman Officer Erica Elias.

The driver was northbound in a 2000 Ford Explorer when she made an unsafe movement to the right, ran off the road, hit an embankment and overturned.

She was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. The woman was pronounced dead by responders at the scene, according to the CHP.

There was not a major effect on traffic because the vehicle was off the road, Elias said.

A spokesman for the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office, which acts as the coroner, could not be reached immediately to confirm the victim’s identity.
