Our first Red Phone caller of the week, a local man, asked the Crimson Crusader to find out when the loudspeakers installed downtown for the motorcycle rally would be removed. Our caller said the speakers, which resemble “air-raid sirens,” don’t fit in with the rest of the downtown area’s decor.
The Crimson Crusader called rally promoter Seth Doulton to get the answer. Doulton said his company, Horse Power Promotions, donated the speakers to the Hollister Downtown Association for the coming street fair. The speakers will be taken down after the Aug. 11 event, he said.

Thanks for weeding
Our next Red Phone caller, a very spirited local man, thanked our hero many times for getting something done about the weeds growing along the sound wall on Fairview Road in Hollister.
Well, dearest caller, you’re welcome. However, it should be noted that all the Crimson Crusader did was make a phone call. The real work was done by Hollister Parks Supervisor Marcelo Orta and his crew. But fret not, the Crimson Crusader will pass on your compliments.
Business complaint
Our next Red Phone caller, a man who said he was calling on behalf of his wife, asked the Crimson Crusader to inform readers that a certain local business employed “thieves.”
Well, dearest caller, this column isn’t about spreading rumors and allegations. Sorry, our hero can’t help. However, if you feel you were wronged by an area business, the Crimson Crusader strongly recommends calling the Better Business Bureau of Silicon Valley at 408-278-7400.
