A 36-year-old man is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy with whom he had worked at Swank Farms in Hollister, a Morgan Hill police captain said.
Jason Mendoza of San Jose was arrested Dec. 1 after police allege he took the Gilroy teen back to his home, intoxicated him and sexually assaulted him, according to police.
Mendoza had been out on bail while being investigated by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office on suspicion of similar charges with a separate young victim, said Sgt. Jerry Neumayer with the Morgan Hill Police Department.
Neumayer noted how Mendoza and the 16-year-old had worked together at Swank Farms as seasonal workers and that they had known each other for six years.
The teen reported that he met Mendoza at Denny’s restaurant in Morgan Hill on Nov. 26, according to police. The boy then agreed to go to Mendoza’s apartment on Snell Road in San Jose, where police allege the man gave him alcoholic drinks and sexually assaulted him.
A school counselor reported the assault Nov. 30, but police were unsure how he had become aware of it.
Police recommended charges for suspected sex acts on a child and committing a felony while released on bail for other charges. He had been arrested at his apartment in October on the other charges.
Anyone with information about this crime or anyone who believes they may have been victimized should call Morgan Hill police Detective Carson Thomas at 408-779-2101 or an anonymous tip line at 408-947-7867.
