City crew workers install the new rubber material at Dunne Park in 2011.

The Hollister School District Board of Trustees is set to meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday for a special board meeting.

Trustees are scheduled to consider authorizing an application for a CalRecycle grant to pay for ground rubber in playground areas, according to the agenda.

The district is set to apply for the “tire derived product grant” through the state.

While “a few” of the district schools have ground rubber in playground areas, the $150,000 grant would allow the district to complete the work at Calaveras, Cerra Vista, Sunnyslope and R.O. Hardin schools, according to the special meeting agenda.
