A minor power loss caused big headaches for a number of local television cable subscribers during the weekend.
Many local subscribers experienced a temporary interruption in service because of a power outage.
Sunday’s outage was reportedly the result of a minor injury car accident when an older model Cadillac sedan reportedly struck a utility pole on Prescott Road that interrupted power.
The Cadillac reportedly broke the pole, sending the upper section sloping forward and snapping several power and other lines.
The energy loss caused some of Charter Cable’s modems to disconnect for a short period, Corporate Spokesman Craig Watson said.
“For about a five-minute period, the modems went off-line but they came right back up,” Watson said.
He said no one was without service for very long and that all customers should have been back to normal by Monday.
Watson said Charter Cable uses a sophisticated monitoring system, called status monitoring, which allows Charter to detect many problems before they ever happen.
“We work very hard to try and notice things before our customers do,” he said. “We are monitoring our system constantly.”
Watson said if there is a problem, the cable service centers are equipped with computers that are able to quickly help them figure out what went wrong.
“They can go online very quickly if there were any problems,” Watson said.
