Cheryl L. Busch told a dispatcher last Wednesday morning that she had killed her 19-month-old daughter, according to a transcript from the 911 dispatch recording provided to the Free Lance.
The dispatch transcript provided to the Free Lance in response to a public records request notes how her husband John Busch first began talking to a 911 responder and told the operator he thought his wife had shot the child, according to the transcript, which includes brief notations with each communication.
About four minutes after the first call was received at 9:40 a.m., after John Busch had described to the dispatcher how his wife had hid he gun, Cheryl Busch got on the phone.
The dispatch transcript notes the following: At 9:47 a.m., Cheryl Busch picked up the phone and refused to talk to the responder. The transcript notes for that entry, for instance, “Cheryl on the phone now. Won’t talk to me.”
Ten seconds later, Busch told the dispatcher her daughter is dead, according to the document. The transcript then notes: “Cheryl said she killed her daughter.”
Busch has pleaded not guilty to homicide along with other related charges for the suspected killing of her 19-month-old daughter, Donna Busch, who died from gunshot wounds to the chest and head.
Cheryl Busch’s attorney, public defender Greg LaForge, responded today to the transcript by telling the Free Lance he had just been appointed and lacked time to fully examine details because he’s also working on another homicide case.
