Patricia A. Mahoney has joined South Valley Newspapers as group circulation director.
In her new position, Mahoney is responsible for all circulation and distribution-related matters for the the Hollister Free Lance and its sister papers, the Gilroy Dispatch and the Morgan Hill Times.
“I am enthused to have someone of Pat’s experience level join our team,” South Valley Newspapers Publisher William Barry said. “I look forward to the circulation growth I am confident she will bring all of our newspapers.”
Mahoney said her top priority is to boost circulation.
“I’ll do that by letting people know we’re here and we want to serve them,” Mahoney said, noting that she plans to focus on strengthening customer service in the newspaper group’s circulation department. “We’ll also try and be out there more in the community.”
Mahoney, who started work at South Valley Newspapers on Monday, previously worked at the Seattle Times as printing operations manager and as circulation director at its sister paper, the Yakima Herald-Republic.
Prior to her time in Washington, Mahoney lived and worked in the United Kingdom. She was advertising and circulation director for the European edition of the Stars and Stripes Newspaper.
Mahoney has also worked in circulation management roles at the Bakersfield Californian, the San Diego Union-Tribune and Phoenix Newspapers, Inc.
She earned a bachelor’s of science degree in criminal justice from Troy State University in Fort Benning, Ga.
Mahoney is a proud mother of two grown sons. Jason, 24, lives in Phoenix, is married, works full time and is a college student. Brandon, 20, is a student at Yale.
