HPD gets grant for traffic safety measures

The Hollister Police Department will use a new $39,440 grant award for such activities as drunk driving training, saturation patrols and distracted driving enforcement, according to an announcement from the HPD.

MISCONDUCT: Jesse Reyna, 18, of 850 Hillcrest #89, and Orlando Perez, 20, of 850 Hillcrest #113, were arrested by Hollister police for disturbing the peace after they approached a man in a vehicle and began yelling at him to get out of the car and fight on Fourth and McCray streets around 5 p.m. Tuesday. Hollister police believe the incident to be gang-related because Reyna was wearing a red belt with the letter "N" for Norteno and Perez was wearing a red shirt and black pants.

Tow-scam case heads to court Monday

After nearly two years of delays, the case against a tow truck operator facing a sentence of up to 177 years in prison for scores of felony counts stemming from an alleged towing scam will go to preliminary hearing Monday.
