Sobrato Cancer Center receives recognition

The Sobrato Cancer Center at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) has been recognized by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative Certification Program. SCVMC is the only public/government hospital in California to receive certification, which demonstrates a commitment to excellence and ongoing quality improvement. The Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification Program is an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. The certification is for three years from designation, which was achieved on March 26, 2013. The Sobrato Cancer Center achieved certification by meeting core standards in all areas of treatment, including treatment planning, staff training and education, chemotherapy orders and drug preparation, patient consent and education, safe chemotherapy administration and monitoring and assessment of patient well-being.
