Local kids get national exposure in toy catalog

Vanessa and Diego Rodriguez never thought they would have their picture on the outside cover of the Discovery Toy magazine. When it arrived in the mail their eyes lit up, Vanessa, a 14-year-old entering her freshman year at San Benito High School, and Diego, a 11-year-old seventh grade student at Marguerite Maze Middle School, knew the magazine was distributed all over the U.S. and Canada. The magazine has been in business for 26 years in Livermore, Calif. Approximately 20 families from different consultants were invited to be part of the photo shoot, but not every family invited was chosen for the Fall catalog. It was a very cool experience and spending a day at the photo shoot gave the children a lot of confidence, according to Judy Rodriguez, the children's proud mother.
