Roadwork has begun on a grinding and paving project in Santa
Clara County on Hwys. 25 and 156.
Started on Sept. 16, the project will refinish Hwy. 25 from the
San Benito County line to the U.S. 101 separation. On Hwy. 156, the
roadway will be refinished from the San Benito County line to Hwy.
152.
The existing roadway surfaces on both locations will be ground
out and replaced with a new layer of hot asphalt mix.

Started on Sept. 16, the project will refinish Hwy. 25 from the San Benito County line to the U.S. 101 separation. On Hwy. 156, the roadway will be refinished from the San Benito County line to Hwy. 152.

The existing roadway surfaces on both locations will be ground out and replaced with a new layer of hot asphalt mix.

In addition, a rumble strip will be installed on the centerline throughout the project boundaries and dikes will be built on the shoulders of the roads to improve water drainage.

The work on Hwy. 25 is scheduled from 8 p.m. Monday through 5 a.m. Friday, and 7 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. It is anticipated to be complete in late October, depending on weather.

The work on Hwy. 156 is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday and Sunday from 9 p.m. to Monday 11 a.m.

During the grinding and paving operations, motorists should expect one-way traffic control directed by flaggers and pilot cards. Vehicles may be stopped on the highway during one-way traffic control while waiting for their turn to proceed through the construction zone.

The westbound Hwy. 25 connector to northbound Hwy. 101 will be closed. Drivers can take westbound Hwy. 25 over the bridge and back to southbound Hwy. 101 for three miles to the Y road off-ramp to Hwy. 101.

The northbound Hwy. 101 connector to eastbound Hwy. 25 will also be closed. Drivers can take the northbound Hwy. 101 off-ramp to westbound Monterey Road to the southbound Hwy. 101 on-ramp to the eastbound Hwy. 25 off-ramp. Orange detour signs are posted along the roadway to direct traffic.
