The fourth annual Hollister golf tournament sponsored by Hollister Recreation will be held March 25 at San Juan Oaks.

There is a 9 a.m. shotgun start and a buffet lunch and awards presentation at 3 p.m.

The $89 entry fee includes the green fee, a cart, tee prizes and the buffet lunch. Prizes for the longest drive on holes No. 4 and No. 17 will be award. There are also prizes for those closest to the pin on holes No. 6, No. 8, No. 12 and No. 16.

Golf fund-raiser

Economic Development of San Benito County will be holding its 15 annual golf tournament at Ridgemark on April 16. There is a noon shotgun start, and check-in time begins at 10:30 a.m.

The format is a four-person scramble, and there are three flights.

The entry fee is $125 and includes the green fee, a box lunch, door prizes and contests. There will also be a raffle and auction after dinner.

Softball tourney

The March Madness double elimination softball tournament will be held on March 20 at DeLaveaga Park in Santa Cruz for men’s slow pitch ‘D’ and novice teams. Details: Call Louie Walters at 464-0738.

Pop Warner

Hollister Youth Football and Cheer teams have been completely filled by mail-in registrations. However, wait lists are still open for the following groups: 12 to 14 years old: (95 to 145 pounds), 15 years old (95 to 125 pounds), 12 to 14 years old (95 to 145 pounds) and15 years old (95 to 125 pounds)

If there are enough applications for cheerleaders ages 9-14 and enough help a large-sized squad will be formed to allow more girls to cheer.

Youth Basketball

North American Youth Sports has openings in the annual spring basketball tournament held at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Menlo Park and Redwood City on April 2-4. There are ten different brackets in grades 5-12. The entry fee is $120 and guarantees each team a minimum of two games. The entry deadline is March 12. There are also similar tournaments at Alameda High School in Oakland March 26-28 and in Richmond on April 16-18. Details: Call 1-800-787-3265.

Basketball camp

Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten-Star All-Star Summer Basketball Camp. The camp is by invitation only. Boys and girls ages 10-19 are eligible to apply. Players from 50 states attended the 2003 camp. Basketball scholarships are possible for players selected to the All-American team. Details: Call (704) 373-0873.
