Choir looks to recruit teens for ‘Glee’-style spring concert

The San Benito County Oriana Chorale recently finished off its last performance of the concert, “Christmas Memories.”

Now it’s time for them to begin preparing for their spring concert, “Oriana Goes Pop.” This season, the choir members have decided to change things up a bit. This year they are going to sing “several songs performed on the show Glee,” said Folene Henn, the president of the choir.

They are “looking for students who might like to add some Glee-type feeling to our show,” Henn said.

She also explained that there will be singing and dancing incorporated this season. The choir is looking for some talented student instrumentalists for the show and are going to hire a stage director to help with the choreography.

The rehearsals begin Jan. 24, at the InChrist Church (the Old Lutheran Church), 2300 Airline Hwy., and take place every Monday evening at 7:15 p.m. until the concerts begin.

They are looking to have 50 people in their choir for the spring concert. A membership with the choir is $75, or $25 for full-time students. Any student who wants to audition for a solo or for dancing will not be charged a fee.

Henn also said that “the membership is open to all ages and is for any person who enjoys singing and wants to have fun.”
