– During public comment: community member Harvey Sandoval asked prospective Board candidates to make themselves known so the community can start thinking about who to vote for in the November 2004 election; parent Paul Goodman asked whether the problems addressed at Anzar and within the district recently would receive attention and action; teacher and teachers union president Barbara Brown addressed the Board regarding contract negotiations and regressive bargaining that has lead to distrust among teachers; teacher and librarian Paul Stampleman handed out information about which local high schools met their Adequate Yearly Progress goals for 2003 – Anzar, North Monterey High School and Watsonville High School did. San Benito High School, Gilroy High School, Aptos High School and Santa Cruz High School did not.
– The Board approved recommendations to fill four vacancies on the district’s Citizens’ Oversight Committee.
