Emergency workers tend to a hit-and-run victim in the Save Mart parking lot after the person was struck by a car that may have been involved in a race with another vehicle when the accident happened Tuesday afternoon.

Hollister police are searching for the drivers of two vehicles suspected in a hit-and-run accident during an illegal street race.

Hollister police this afternoon responded to a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian in the Save Mart shopping center in the area of McCray and Third streets.

According to a press release issued by the Hollister Police Department, witnesses described two late-model vehicles, one maroon and one blue, racing in the area when a pedestrian was struck. Afterward, both vehicles fled the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The driver and passenger of the maroon vehicle were described as two Hispanic males. No description of the driver of the blue vehicle was available.
