The Hollister People of Peace on Friday will celebrate nine years of meeting and holding vigils for peace.
The group is set to gather from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and will be meeting at the corner of Highway 25 and Tres Pinos Road in front of the Safeway parking lot on Friday.
Residents who would like to join are encouraged to wear red, white or blue.
Following the hour vigil, the group will reconvene to the Dreamy Buffet to enjoy company and food.
The group started meeting in April 2002, about a year before the U.S. invaded Iraq.
An opposition group led by county Republican leader Marvin Jones then started meeting across the street, at Fourth and San Benito streets, eventually leading to the People in Peace finding other spots to gather.
