Editor,
I – like many of my generation – have been investigating co-housing opportunities in this area and elsewhere while planning for my future. The proposed Artisans’ Plaza has some features that recommend it to others like myself who are looking for alternatives to living alone and separately as we age.
The prospects of senior-assisted living aren’t appealing to me. I’m active, I paint and write, and I want to share my interests with others nearby. I currently live just southeast of Watsonville in the country. Being a bit closer to a grocery store, the library, a doctor and restaurants is one parameter. Most important, though, is a thoughtful design that encourages community. You have those features in Artisans’ Plaza. Please investigate how and why co-housing works and then give this development your support.
