The department conducted a driving under the influence and driver’s license checkpoint Friday on Airline Highway at Sunset Drive. It lasted more than four hours, according to police.

Police noted that nine people were cited for driving without a license and four others for driving with a suspended license.
The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The goal was to remove impaired drivers and bring awareness to the public about the dangers of drinking and driving while under the influence, according to police.
