Officers with the Hollister Police Department and deputies from the San Benito County Sheriff’s Department arrested six people and seized 75 grams of methamphetamine from a Hollister residence Sunday, police said.
James “Jimmy Ray” Villegas, 28, J.C. Terry, 55, David Cordova, 35, Veranda Cordova, 24, Taranda Terry, 22, and Michelle Cordova, 25, were arrested at 1660 Vallejo Drive at 6:35 p.m. by four police officers and two sheriff’s deputies, said HPD Capt. Bob Brooks.
At the time of the suspects’ arrest, four children under the age of 3 were at the residence.
The police department had been investigating Villegas for some time, and when officers received information that he was at the residence on Vallejo Drive, police “set a trap,” and arrested him, Brooks said.
“A search warrant was conducted and 75 grams of meth was found in plain view,” Brooks said. “For an individual that’s a lot. It has about a $7,000 street value.”
Villegas, a Hollister resident, was arrested for resisting arrest, possession for sale of a controlled substance and violating his probation.
“He has an extensive record,” Brooks said. “It dates back a long way.”
Villegas is being held at the San Benito County Jail in lieu of $27,000 bail.
J.C. Terry was arrested for accessory to commit a crime, possession of methamphetamine and child endangerment. He is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.
David Cordova was arrested for possession for sale, child endangerment and had a warrant for his arrest at the time of the raid. He is being held in lieu of $65,000 bail.
Veranda Cordova was arrested for possession for sale, child endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held in lieu of $66,000 bail.
Taranda Terry was arrested for possession for sale and child endangerment, and is being held in lieu of $65,000 bail. Michelle Cordova was arrested for child endangerment and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
This was the second methamphetamine bust during the past week, but it wasn’t too unusual for the area, said Sheriff Curtis Hill.
“On some occasions it seems like we have a big run, but really it’s just business as usual,” Hill said.
