San Benito joins effort to ID convicted illegal immigrants

Embezzlement, Airline Highway

Between February and August, an employee of Blockbuster, in the 1700 block of Airline Highway, is accused of embezzling funds and transferring them into her personal account. The suspect, a 29-year-old woman, is accused of taking refunds from merchandise that was never sold and placing over $4,000 from the refunds in her account. The case was reported to police at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, and the reporting party said she was caught through loss-prevention measures. The suspect was arrested and booked into the county jail.

CRIMINAL COMPLAINTS

Vandalism, Sunset Drive

At 12:30 a.m. Friday, a suspect threw a chair against the wall in the emergency room at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital in the 900 block of Sunset Drive. The suspect was reported to be mad at hospital staff and also pushed a security guard. The suspect was cited and released.

Trespassing, Carmela Court

At 10 p.m. Friday, an unknown suspect was observed in the backyard of a residence in the 1300 block of Carmela Court. The victim reported she heard a noise in the backyard, turned on the light and saw a male dressed in a black shirt and black pants. When the light came on, the suspect fled the scene and no other suspect information was available.

Battery with serious bodily injury, Sunset Drive

At 9 p.m. Sunday, a victim showed up to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital in the 900 block of Sunset Drive with serious bodily injuries. The victim refused to give any further information about his attacker.

False license plates, Sixth Street

At 2 p.m. Friday, officers stopped a vehicle in 500 block of Sixth Street for a vehicle code violation. After officers checked the license plates, they discovered the plates were from a different vehicle with an expired registration. The driver also had no license or insurance. The suspect was cited and released for the false license plates.

Theft, San Juan Road

At 2 a.m. Saturday, an unknown suspect stole $17 worth of beer from Kwik Stop in the 1300 block of San Juan Road. No suspect information was available other than the suspect drove away in a white truck.
