Vehicle theft
A Chevrolet Silverado was stolen at about 9:40pm Wednesday from the 600 block of South Street in Hollister, the Hollister Police Department said. The truck was left unlocked with the keys in the ignition, police said. There are no suspects.
Attempted robbery
Two men approached an ice cream vendor demanding money at 3:48pm Thursday at the intersection of Hawkins and Sally streets in Hollister, police said. One of the men punched him, police said. The victim used the lid of his ice cream cart to defend himself, preventing the men from taking any money, police said. The suspects are described as two Hispanic men, about 20 years old, both with shaved heads, white tank tops and one wearing blue shorts and the other black pants, police said.
Vandalism
The driver’s side window of a Hollister Police Department patrol car was broken with a rock at about 2:30am on Peartree Lane in Hollister, police said. There are no suspects.
Arrests
Vehicle burglary
Isaac Mendoza, 19, of the 200 block of Birch Lane in Hollister, was arrested by the Hollister Police Department on suspicion of burglary, a felony, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, after officers responded to a burglary in progress at 1:59am Friday on Peartree Lane in Hollister, police said. Upon arrival, officers found a man stealing a radio out of a car, police said. The man fled, but officers found him after searching the Mission Oaks Mobile Home Park, police said.
Driving under the influence
Aldino Evangelista, 21, of the first block of Line Street in Hollister, was arrested by police on suspicion of driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, after a traffic stop at 10:50pm Thursday in the 200 block of Teresita Court in Hollister, police said.
All those named are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
