A 25-year-old convicted sex offender was cited on June 8 for
being at Gavilan Hills Elementary School without permission. Police
said the man was on the school’s soccer field while two groups of
people were having a picnic. School was not in session at the time,
but the man’s sex offender status prohibits him from being at the
school at any time. A police officer in the area recognized the man
then cited and released him.
Robbery

Two males are being sought by police on suspicion of assaulting an 18-year-old man outside Rancho San Justo School on June 8 then taking an Xbox gaming console, which the man had in his backpack. According to a police report, the man was waiting for a ride home outside the school, when two unknown Hispanic males approached him and punched him in the face. The man then dropped his backpack containing the Xbox, which the two suspects took and fled.

Sex offender trespassing

Battery

Battery was reported June 6 in the 600 block of Vali Way after a mother and daughter were involved in a “mutual fight,” said Hollister police spokeswoman Rosie Betanio. No arrests were made, and the case has been forwarded to the San Benito County District Attorney’s Office to determine if criminal charges will follow.

Burglary

A burglary was reported June 5 in the 1800 block of Memorial Drive. According to a police report, an unknown suspect broke into a home through the back door and stole a tile saw worth $700 and also broke a window. No arrests were made and police have no suspects.

A 16-year-old male was arrested at Target June 6 and charged by police with burglary after police say he attempted to steal a digital camera from the store. According to a police report, the juvenile entered the store, then took the $160 camera out of its case and concealed it before attempting to leave without paying. He was arrested and booked into juvenile hall.
