The Hollister Police Department arrested a 12-year-old suspect and released the minor to a parent, following an investigation into the bomb threats at Marguerite Maze Middle School, according to a statement from the police department.
“We take all threats seriously, and will always take immediate action to ensure the safety of our students and staff,” said Hollister School District Superintendent Gary McIntire in the statement. “The District thanks all members of our community who assisted in the investigation that solved this crime.”
Police responded to several threats of a bomb exploding at Marguerite Maze Middle School written in different locations on campus, according to the statement from police.
The message was reported late in the afternoon Sept. 23, according to a press release from the school district. That evening, police conducted a “thorough and systematic” search of the school and found no threats, according to a district statement. Additional security was also called in for the remainder of the week.

After interviewing several students and parents and with the assistance of school staff, Officer Paddy was able to arrest a 12-year-old suspect. The minor was released to a parent with a citation for making a false bomb threat.
The Hollister Police Department would also like to thank the Hollister School District, the staff at Marguerite Maze Middle School and parents and students for their cooperation in this investigation. Together as partners, Officer Paddy was able to resolve this case in a relatively quick time.
