Hollister – Hollister police continue to investigate two shootings this week that are believed to be gang-related, according to law enforcement officials.
Police responded to a shooting Tuesday at 1071 Caputo Court around 6pm, and while little details were available, Hollister Police Capt. Richard Vasquez said it is believed to be gang-related. No one was injured and it is unknown how many shots were fired, what type of weapon was used or whether the suspects were on foot or in a car. Police are investigating the motive for the shooting.
Tuesday’s shooting comes directly on the heels of a shooting Monday night at 1171 C Street around 9:30pm. Vasquez said that shooting was a drive-by, and other than witnesses hearing three shots fired and police recovering one bullet from the scene, additional details were also unavailable. Residents were home at the time, however no one was injured.
No arrests have been made in either incident, and at this time they do not appear to be related, Vasquez said. Police believe both shootings are gang-related because at least one resident in both homes has gang ties, Vasquez said.
The shootings bring the city to six gang-related shootings over the past two months.
Anyone with information on the shootings is asked to contact the Hollister Police Department at (831) 636-4330.
