The Hollister Police Department bought six black and white 2009 Ford Crown Victoria patrol cars purchased with grant money from the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund.

The local police department has a backlog of work due to short staffing on positions that process many of the agency’s reports, so it is temporarily reducing office hours, according to a statement.
According the police press release:
The Hollister Police Department will temporarily reduce the hours the police lobby will be open to the public.
The Hollister Police Department currently has 3 positions for Police Services Officers (PSO). The Police Services Officers must process reports written by police officers and complete county, state and federal reporting requirements on a daily basis. Several months ago, one of the Police Services Officers moved to another city department and the position has not been filled. The reduction of staff has created a backlog of mandated work.
In addition, new requirements of report processing has further increased the staff time required to process certain types of reports.
The department is in the process of filling the vacant position. However, the backlog necessitates a concentration of efforts by staff to eliminate the pending work. Therefore, starting on Monday July 13th the lobby hours will be modified until the new staff is hired, trained and the backlog is eliminated.
The new office hours will be:
Days Hours
Mondays 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Tuesdays 8:00 am – 12:00 & 1:00 to 5:00 pm
Wednesdays 8:00 am – 12:00 & 1:00 to 5:00 pm
Thursdays 8:00 am – 12:00 & 1:00 to 5:00 pm
Fridays 8:00 am– 1:00 pm
Saturdays & Sundays Closed
This temporary measure will not have an affect in dispatching officers for calls for service. Citizens can continue to call 911 and the non-emergency line (636-4331) to report a crime or request assistance. Many services like online reporting, paying for parking tickets or general information is availble online on the department’s website www.hollister.ca.gov
