Hollister police were forced to use a Taser on a man suspected to have been combative with a knife in the Mission Oaks Mobile Home Park.
Police responded to the mobile home park off Fourth Street at about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to a police report. There had been a report of a combative man with a knife. Police found and arrested parolee at large Augustine Salas Jr., 29, at the scene, according to the Hollister Police Department.
Police alleged he is a “validated gang member” as well.
Police responded Tuesday night to reports of a man being combative, destroying property and fighting with other residents. Authorities searched and found Salas hiding in a bathroom shower of a home there, and a physical struggle ensued, according to police. That is when officers deployed the Taser, according to the police report.
According to the statement from police:
Salas refused all orders to comply with officers and a physical struggle ensued between Hollister Police Officers and Salas. During the course of the struggle, officers deployed a Taser which resulted in Salas being taken into custody without any further altercation.
Officers were unable to find witnesses at the scene to confirm a knife had been used and no victims were located.
Salas was transported to Hazel Hawkins Hospital for a routine medical clearance before being booked at the San Benito County Jail. He was charged for resisting and delaying arrest and parole violation.
